Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
